Get your family in gear for back-to-school reading at the Target Children's Book Festival on Saturday at Kensington Metropark. The free festival runs 10 a.m.-5 p.m.
Families will not need a Metropark pass to the literacy event, which includes a chance to meet authors and entertainers. Signs at the park will point you to the festival area.
The Free Press Fun Village will include games and a chance to meet the Yak, the Free Press mascot for young readers. Also, kids can turn in artwork for possible publication in Yak's Corner, the newspaper's weekly children's section.
Authors at the fair include Jim Benton, Stacey DuFord and Debbie Taylor.
Here's is the author schedule and the names of some of their books:
• 11:40 a.m.-noon. Barney Saltzberg, "Cornelius P. Mud, Are You Ready for School?"
• 12:45-1:15 p.m. Leslie Helakoski, "Big Chickens"
• 1:45-2:05 p.m. Jim Benton, "Dear Dumb Diary" series and "Fran K. Stein" series

Other attractions include musical groups and singers, including 16-year-old Jordan Pruitt, who will appear at 2:10 p.m. If your children are Disney fans, they've likely heard her.
